Sheldon v. County of Litchfield
Sheldon v. County of Litchfield
2 Kirby 16; 2 Conn. Super. Ct. 16
Opinion of the Court
THIS action was brought upon a protested order drawn on the County Treasurer by order of the County Court.
Mr. Canfield for the County, demurred generally,—The exception under the demurrer was,—That the County is not a corporation in law, capable of suing or being sued.—It has not power to tax itself except in certain cafes expressly pointed out by statute, therefore a judgement against it cannot take effect.
