State ex rel. Barnes v. State
Supreme Court of Louisiana · Decided June 22, 1981 · Dennis, Dixon
401 So. 2d 961; 1981 La. LEXIS 8453 (Southern Reporter, Second Series)

State ex rel. Barnes v. State

Opinion of the Court

In re Joey L. Barnes applying for Remedial Writ, Parish of Terrebonne.

Writ denied.

Concurring Opinion

DENNIS, J.,

concurs in the denial of this application because the applicant has made no showing of a need for him to serve as his own co-counsel other than the bare statement that his trial counsel was ineffective.

Dissenting Opinion

DIXON, C. J.,

would grant the writ and permit relator to serve as his own co-counsel. He raises the issue of ineffectiveness of the counsel appointed to represent him.
